The International Thespian Society members and Student Council members at Webb are joining with the United Methodist Church in a national event to collect food items for hungry children. The drive kickoff was Thursday in chapel with the Rev. Eric Little, pastor of Bell Buckle United Methodist Church, attending.
During the month-long drive in October, single-serving nutritious food for weekend backpacks for school-age children will be collected. Canned goods will be accepted, as well, for the church food pantry, however, the need there is not as great as for the backpacks at this time. All nonperishables will be weighed as part of a competition at schools across the nation.
A specially marked collection box will be located in the Administration Building throughout the drive. Packers for the backpacks will be led by Niclole Taucare, dean of faculty and dorm parent, and residents of Wendel Haynes Hall.
