Head of School Search

A Letter from the Head of School Search Committee

Nov. 8, 2019

Dear Webb Community,

We want to update you about the search for the Head of School at The Webb School. A field of 54 candidates has been narrowed to nine semifinalists. This announcement follows a Search Committee presentation to the Board of Trustees on Nov. 1 and a subsequent Search Committee meeting. The next step in the process, being conducted by The Education Group, is to develop a list of three finalists, who will continue in the interview process and also make on-campus visits.

"A great deal of hard work has been put in to the early stages of this search, both by our internal Search Committee and our consultants at The Education Group.  We were very pleased with the depth and quality of the applicant pool, and we are now working with a strong field of semifinalists," Board Chair Vance Berry commented.

Finalist interviews will begin the week of Nov. 18, and on-campus visits with faculty, staff, parents, students, alumni and others are also planned.

Semifinalists currently hold leadership roles at day and boarding schools and other educational institutions across the country.  The list includes current sitting Heads of School as well as up-and-coming "rising stars".

The next head of school will officially join Webb on July 1 succeeding Ray Broadhead, who has served as head of school since 2010.

As always, feel free to reach out to me, or to consultants Katherine StuartDennis Campbell, or Bob Veto with any questions or suggestions. You may continue to check the website for details.

Sincerely,

Farrar Vaughan '95
