The Webb School seeks a full-time English Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. The Webb School’s teachers are living examples of the mission of the school and embrace its Enduring Understandings.
Job Responsibilities:
- Teach 5 sections within the English department
- Serve as an advisor to 10-12 students
- Serve in the school’s afternoon enrichment or athletic program
- Serve in the school’s residential program as a residential staff member or support the residential program as a day faculty with occasional weekend duty
- Sponsor a co-curricular club during the school day for one semester
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Arts in English or equivalent; a Master’s degree is preferred
- Experience working with high school students
- Experience in a boarding school is preferred but not required
- A commitment to culturally responsive teaching
- Desire to be actively engaged in all aspects of a boarding school
Characteristics of a successful candidate:
- Teamwork, dependability, flexibility, willingness to listen and learn, problem-solving skills, and congeniality
- A love for teaching high school students
- Well developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment: students, coworkers, and parents

Founded in 1870, The Webb School is a private boarding school in Bell Buckle, Tenn. Students from grades 6-12 come seeking college preparatory school education in liberal arts at Webb from all over the world. With 10 Rhodes Scholars among its graduates and consistently high SAT scores, The Webb School has a reputation of being one of the top private schools in the nation. The school presently offers 20 Advanced Placement classes.
