Webb Doubles Skeet Squads Place Third at State

The varsity doubles skeet squad of Johnathon Savage ‘22, Miles Simons ‘22, and Gracie Hensley ‘24 placed third after a late-night shoot-off under the lights at the Tennessee Scholastic Clay Target Program State Tournament on July 20-22 at the Nashville Gun Club. Right after that, Hensley placed third as an individual in ladies varsity doubles skeet.

The intermediate entry-level squad of Owen Aymett ‘27, Caiden Pyrdum ‘28, and Ollie Greene ‘27 placed third in doubles skeet. The Webb middle school boys also placed third as a team in doubles skeet. That team consisted of Owen Aymett ‘27, Caiden Pyrdum ‘28, Paxton McCallon ‘28, and Ollie Greene ‘27. This was the first year of competition for the boys. The middle school team placed third as a squad (Greene, Aymett, and Pyrdum) and third as a team in American skeet at the regional TNSCTP Region II tournament just two weeks prior.

The Webb Feet also competed in American skeet and sporting clays at the state tournament. Coach Buck Smith said, “I was proud of how well the middle school team did in their first tournaments ever. Seeing Johnathon Savage, Miles Simons, and Brooklyn Shepard-Wheelon compete at the state tournament for the last time as graduating seniors was bittersweet because we’ve had seven terrific years together. They served as mentors for the younger students and helped me coach them this fall. They had terrific success over the years and are excellent role models, so they are responsible for the team being as active and successful as it is today.”
