After leading St. George’s Independent School to back-to-back TSSAA Division II-A state playoff berths, Jessie McGuire has been named The Webb School’s new head varsity softball coach for the 2026-27 school year.

McGuire comes to the Webb Feet with great experience as a high-performing NCAA Division I athlete and as an accomplished developer of high school talent. In her five years at St. George’s, she coached multiple student-athletes who received All-Region, All-State and All-Metro recognition. The postseason spot earned by her Gryphons in the Spring of 2025 was also a program first for St. George’s Independent School in 17 years.

“I am honored to join a school community that emphasizes the development of the whole child,” said McGuire upon accepting her new position at Webb. “My excitement grows each day as I learn more about the student-athletes who make up the softball program. I look forward to building on the skills and character that the players already possess while fostering a culture of growth and teamwork on and off the field.”

McGuire, who holds a Bachelor of Science in Education and Integrative Studies, played collegiate softball for four years at the University of Memphis. Throughout her career with the Tigers, she recorded a .250 batting average and scored 69 runs in 158 games. In addition, she finished her junior campaign in the outfield with no errors, recording a fielding percentage of 1.000. Each year, she was named an NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete and made the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team from 2016 to 2018. After concluding her final season with Memphis, she was sixth all-time in stolen base percentage (0.889) and 10th all-time in total stolen bases (32). 

“It is rare to find someone with Coach McGuire’s athletic resume, who thoroughly loves teaching the game to players of all levels,” said Webb’s Interim Director of Athletics James Garcia. “Her enthusiasm for softball is exceeded only by her passion for teaching and sharing the love of her sport. We look forward to seeing her on campus soon and watching our program grow in the years ahead.”

McGuire, a Middle School Math teacher at St. George’s since 2020, will join the Math Department at The Webb School this Fall.
