The Webb School in Bell Buckle, Tenn., is proud to announce the appointment of Tenisha Lockridge as its new Head Varsity Girls’ Basketball Coach for the 2026-27 school year.
Lockridge, a dynamic leader with deep roots as a player and coach in Tennessee, joins The Webb School coaching staff after a record-setting year at Kirkwood High School in Clarksville, Tenn., where she led the varsity team to a school record in wins during their most recent season. A skilled developer of individual talent, Lockridge also led two Kirkwood players to the All-District Team and two to the All-District Tournament Team. In addition to fulfilling her responsibilities as Head Varsity Girls’ Basketball Coach at The Webb School, Lockridge will serve as the Middle School Athletic Coordinator and as a Physical Education teacher.
"We are excited to welcome Coach Lockridge to the Webb family," said Interim Director of Athletics James Garcia. “She has a great track record of building strong teams and teaching her players discipline and character. She knows the landscape of Division II athletics in Tennessee, and we cannot wait to see her on campus soon.”
A Nashville native and standout high school basketball player at Brentwood Academy, Lockridge won the TSSAA Division II State Championship in her sophomore year playing varsity for the Eagles. In her junior year, she was Brentwood Academy’s leading scorer in the State finals, helping the Eagles to a runner-up Division II State finish. Finally, she was a TSSAA Miss Basketball finalist and a McDonald’s All-American nominee in her senior year.
After graduating high school, she earned a full athletic scholarship to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC), where she played point guard in 127 games between 2008 and 2012. A three-year starter, she averaged 5.6 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game, captaining the team during her final two years of college. In 2010, she helped UTC claim the Southern Conference title and advance to the NCAA Tournament. While at UTC, she also twice earned Dean's List honors and received the Southern Conference Commissioner's Academic Medal. Lockridge holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice from UTC and an M.S. in Sports Management from Arkansas State University.
Following her career as a player at UTC, she transitioned to an Assistant Coach role at Chattanooga State Community College before moving to Texas to teach and coach both basketball and volleyball. By the time she reached her final year in the Lone Star State, Lockridge had been appointed Head Varsity Basketball Coach at Benjamin O. Davis High School, where she led the team to the most wins in school program history (22). Two of her players were named 1st Team 6A All-District, two to the 2nd Team 6A All-District, and two to the 6A All-Academic Team.
"I am honored to have been chosen to lead a program that truly embraces the meaning of family, history, and prestige. I look forward to steering this program in the right direction while continuing to build upon the success that has already been proven. Most importantly, I'm excited to serve as a role model for these incredible young ladies, and look forward to the new memories we will create on this journey! Don't doubt yourself; let others do that for you," said Lockridge.
