Jerry Hughes II has been named The Webb School's new Head Varsity Boys' and Girls' Tennis Coach for the upcoming school year. He holds over 20 years of experience as a player and coach. Most recently, Hughes served as a teaching professional at Adams Tennis Complex in Murfreesboro, Tenn., where for the past seven years, he has led individual and group training sessions, providing instruction for all aspects of player development.

“We were fortunate to find someone with Coach Hughes’ unique skill set as both a teacher and a high-level player," said Interim Director of Athletics James Garcia. “Having attended Shelbyville Central High School, he knows the landscape of the sport in this area, and will help support our boys and girls to compete at the highest level. We are excited about what next year will bring.”

Hughes played collegiately at Carson Newman University, where he was a member of the Eagles’ Student Athlete Advisory Committee. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. After finishing his collegiate career, he obtained a Level 1 Certification from the Professional Tennis Registry and earned a Universal Tennis Rating of 11 as a player.
