Girls team vies for third consecutive state championship, boys fall in semifinal

The Webb varsity girls basketball team defeated The Kings Academy, 69-21, in the March 2 semifinal round of the TSSAA Div. II-A State Tournament at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville. They will vie for their third straight state championship at 11 a.m. on March 4 at Tennessee Tech facing Middle Tennessee Christian School (MTCS) from Murfreesboro. 

In the semifinal game, Webb girls led, 17-5, at the end of the first quarter, and 37-12 at the half enroute to the win.

The boys’ team fell to Notre Dame, 68-62, in the semifinal game March 2. The score at the half was Webb 19 and Notre Dame 25. The game was tied heading into the fourth quarter. It was the boys team's first appearance in the state tournament final four since 2019. They finish with a 22-12 record for 2022-2023. 

The girls were district and regional champions, while the boys were district champions and regional runner-up.
