On December 4, 2025, The Webb School proudly celebrated six senior-athletes who will continue their athletic careers in college. They include baseball players Owen Fogle, Thomas Evans, Sammy Ledbetter, Ryan Edwards, and Gunnar Boles, along with golfer Preston Hall.

Play Ball!

For Fogle, who signed with Middle Tennessee State University, baseball has been part of his life since age three. “I knew I wanted to play baseball ever since I was little. Everybody in my family played,” said Fogle, whose Webb career highlights include a district championship and advancing to the state tournament. His advice for younger players is simple: “To work hard and find a good mentor.”

Evans will continue his career at Tennessee Wesleyan, where he plans to study finance or another business-related field. He began playing baseball with his father in his own yard at the ripe age of four. “He would throw the toy baseball, and I would hit the ball with the plastic bat and run around the yard. It was so much fun; that’s when I decided to play,” he said, expressing gratitude not only toward his parents, but also to his coaches and friends for their unparalleled guidance and support.

Webb’s Head Baseball Coach, Scott Hall, praised the signers—also including Ledbetter and Boles, who have committed to play for Columbia State, and Edwards, who will matriculate to Trevecca University in the fall. According to Hall, their collective achievements make this one of Webb baseball’s strongest senior classes in recent years. “To have five members of the Class of 2026 signing letters of intent to play college baseball is a proud time for Webb,” he said. “It’s a testament to their talents, work ethic, family support system, and work in the classroom.”

Leadership in Golf

After learning to play golf at age seven and becoming one of Webb’s most accomplished athletes on the course, senior golfer Preston Hall has signed with Cleveland State. Among his most memorable Webb milestones was finishing runner-up at the region tournament in his freshman year. “Preston has had one of the most successful Webb golf careers of any player in School history. He has been the consummate teammate,” said Head Golf Coach Jeff Mitchell. 
 
His secret? “Work hard, have good body language on the course, and just leave the last shot behind,” said Hall.
