"What a gift it is to coach these cross country athletes. I am so proud of the people they are, and the character they show on the course each and every time they raced throughout the season. This season has been a journey of hard work, sacrifice, and commitment," said Head Coach Cathy Cheeseman. "Today at the TSSAA state championships, the girls raced with both their head and heart, and their character shined. The race required focus and grit. Championship racing is always another level of racing, and the girls showed up today just like they have throughout the season. They each had an important job to do, and each athlete executed her race plan with precision and persistence."

The coach added, "Abby Faith Cheeseman led the team and the field of athletes through a fairly conservative first mile, and then she hammered the final two miles to capture the individual state championship. In the process she contributed to the team’s runner-up finish. Sophie McInturff (5th) now notched her 2nd straight All-State individual finish. Newcomer and 8th grader Henley Pritchard had an outstanding season, as she made a huge impact on the team. She, too, earned All-State honors placing 7th overall in the race. Macy Simon stormed back from injury this season and placed 29th overall, and Sydney Davenport rounded out our scoring effort by placing 39th. Newcomer Sasha Decker (45th) and Olivia Dugdale (68th) rounded out our top 7 and team finish."
