Bell Buckle honors Webb’s state champion basketball team

The Town of Bell Buckle recently honored The Webb School 2021-2022 varsity girls’ basketball team for winning the 2022 TSSAA Div. II-A State Championship. Bell Buckle Mayor Ronnie Lokey and Vice Mayor Betsy Wheeler presented a plaque to Head of School Ken Cheeseman, Head Basketball Coach Matt Shewmake and members of the girls’ team.

The plaque included: “We appreciate your hard work and spirit in accomplishing this great honor for the school and the town.”

Lokey congratulated the coach and team for winning consecutive state championships in 2021 and 2022 and expressed that the town of Bell Buckle is proud of their hard work and success. “Winning back-to-back state championships is really an accomplishment for the team and the school.” He added that the plaque is a token of appreciation and recognition. The mayor also highlighted the good relationship between the town of Bell Buckle and The Webb School.

Accepting the plaque on behalf of the school, Cheeseman thanked the Bell Buckle officials and the town for the honor and added, “I am grateful for Bell Buckle’s continued support of Webb, its students, faculty and staff.

Shewmake also expressed his gratitude and that of all the team members for the special recognition.
