TEAM FINISH 4th place with 51 points

“ ‘Team’ is the aspect of track and field I cherish most. Team success requires developing individually as an athlete and together as a team; this dual-purposed mindset is critical to success in track and field,” said Cheeseman. “Each student-athlete, from beginner to veteran, has much to contribute to the team: his or her time, talents, leadership, strength, speed, power, mindset, tenacity and character. Relatedly, these same traits are also further developed and strengthened throughout a track season.”

“This 2022 team purposely contributed their gifts to the team, shared a common winning mindset, and cared about one another,” the coach said. “They succeeded not only because of our scoring athletes, but because of all the team members who were part of the journey.”

The team finished as TSSAA Middle Region Runners-up and earned 4th place in the TSSAA DII-A State Meet.

Cheeseman added, “As singer and songwriter Randy Travis sang, ‘It's not what you take when you leave this world behind you, it's what you leave behind you when you go.’ This team left behind a legacy for future teams to emulate. Go Feet!”
