The Webb School is pleased to announce the arrival of a new 84-seat passenger bus to its campus fleet, made possible through the generous gift of our devoted friend, Richard Colyear of Rolling Hills, Calif. Colyear’s support ensures that Webb can continue to provide the infrastructure necessary for a premier educational experience, fostering both community and connection for years to come.

The new vehicle—already on campus—will primarily support the School’s diverse programming, ensuring safe and reliable transportation for students across all pillars of campus life, from academics, athletics, and the arts to community travel programs. Beyond supporting campus activities, the arrival of this bus also marks the strategic expansion of Webb's accessibility. Beginning in the 2026–27 academic year, The Webb School will launch a new transportation route throughout the Franklin and Chapel Hill areas, providing a vital link for day students residing in these communities.

Colyear's gift was made in honor of the late Paul W. Trousdale, Class of 1931. Mr. Trousdale was a towering figure in the Webb community, serving on the Board of Trustees and as a charter member within the Distinguished Alumni Society. In a meaningful tribute to Mr. Trousdale’s legacy, a small insignia reading "PWT ’31" has been placed near the entrance door of the bus.

“We are profoundly grateful to Richard Colyear for his extraordinary generosity and investment in the daily lives of our students,” said Dr. Polly Parker, Head of School. “The addition of a new bus to our fleet is a game-changer for our operations. It not only ensures our students travel safely and comfortably to their many competitions and performances, but also allows us to open another route to include the Franklin and Chapel Hill areas. Providing this access to day students from those communities is essential as we continue to grow and welcome more families to the Webb community.”
