Clay target team and alums claim honors during summer competition

The Webb School Clay Target team completed its season during the summer with 11 athletes competing in tournaments in Tennessee, Michigan and Ohio.  The team participated in the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) Region 2 tournament at the beginning of June in Nashville.  Later that month, the team competed in the SCTP state tournament in Nashville and shot American Skeet, Sporting Clays, and Doubles Skeet.  Several members of the team went to National SCTP tournament in July in Ohio for International Skeet.

Caiden Pyrdum ’28, Owen Aymett ’27, and Paxton McCallon ’28 brought home a trophy for 3rd place American Skeet Region 2 SCTP tournament in Nashville in their age division.

“I appreciate our athletes and how well they represent the school on and off the field,” said Matt Wilson, head coach.  “We receive many compliments from others at competitions regarding our team - from our most experienced to our newest shooters.  I want to thank everyone who has been involved this year including our athletes and their families, coaches, and supporters.”

Also in June, three athletes traveled to Michigan to compete in Olympic Skeet as part of tournament organized by USA Shooting, the national governing body for Olympic shooting sports.  Gracie Hensley ’24, and alumni, Miles Simons ’22, and Johnathon Savage ’22, shot against the best in the country and placed at the highest levels.
