Family members in attendance included John Callow '66 of Murfreesboro, Tenn., George Callow '70 of Memphis, Tenn., Jessica Ramsey '96 of North Charleston. S.C., and Laurel Mastin '99 of Hanahan, S.C. Mrs. Callow's loyal friend, Mrs. Dorothy Elkins, also attended.

In his remarks, Head of School Ken Cheeseman said, "We’re honored to name this office which currently houses the Director of Student Affairs in memory of Mrs. Callow. She has been a dear friend to the school, a parent and grandmother of Webb alumni, and a loyal and consistent donor through the years."

When asked to share a brief biography on his mother John wrote that "education and The Webb School were important to Bette Ray Callow. She was the mother and grandmother of four Webb graduates. She was well-known to Webb alums in the Memphis area, faithfully attending Webb functions in that city for more than 50 years."

He added, "she was a graduate of Memphis Central High School, the University of Memphis (B.A.) and the University of Louisville (M.A.) She did advanced graduate work at Cornell University. For more than 30 years she taught art history and was the slide curator at the Memphis College of Arts. She was a student of the world and traveled extensively throughout Europe, South America, and Asia. She particularly enjoyed sharing her travels with her granddaughters."
