Make the most of your Webb education
with support inside and outside the classroom
At Webb, our students don’t fall through the cracks. The partnership between the teacher, parents, and student is an essential one. We utilize a multi-faceted support system to facilitate student success.
Support built into the academic day
Our academic day is designed to give students opportunities to seek out help from their teachers and other adults on campus. Students are encouraged to advocate for their needs and are comfortable discussing their challenges with their teachers, building important skills for their years beyond Webb.
Extra Help
Each day teachers are available in their classrooms for Extra Help. This time is built into the academic day, and you’ll quickly learn how to take advantage of it. Upper school students are encouraged to serve as peer tutors to assist younger students who may need additional help during their Extra Help period.
Advisory
You’ll be assigned to a small advisory group with your peers and a faculty advisor that meets twice a week for support, connection, and to address concerns. Your advisor serves as a mentor during your Webb experience. They are the "resident expert" on each student in their advisee group and serve as a liaison between school and home.
Sixth Grade Focus
As a sixth grade student, you’ll participate in a Focus class three days per week in which you’ll utilize tools in a variety of disciplines including technology, writing skills, reading comprehension, library skills, and organizational study skills. Students also extract, contemplate, and discuss the Honor Code. This class serves as a primer for expectations and Webb standards.
Study Center
The Study Center is a scheduled class for all 7th-9th graders and new 10th-12th graders. Learning Services faculty members will teach you research-backed study skills which serve you at Webb, in college, and beyond. You’ll also have a closely monitored study space to complete homework.
Structured support for students with diverse learning needs
Learning Services strives to foster increasing levels of independence in our students as they progress toward graduation and provide the appropriate level of support along the way to help each student succeed. The goal of the Learning Center is to best meet the individual needs of students to promote a successful academic and social experience.
