Civic Engagement Club Celebrates Another Successful Model UN Conference
Megan Winnicker

For the second straight year, Webb’s Civic Engagement Club participated in the YMCA's annual Model United Nations (UN) Conference. The 2025 Model UN conference, including 16 Webb students and their Club sponsor, English Department Chair Kevin Finn, took place from November 21 to November 23, at The Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

More than 700 high school students attended the 2025 conference over the Thanksgiving break. Serving in various UN capacities, such as General Assembly representatives, students had the opportunity to represent nations from around the globe. Their simulated roles ranged from UN delegates and members of the Department of Global Communications to Security Council representatives, and more.

Each school year, over 2,000 high school and middle school students from across the state come together for a hands-on experience with international government and the work of the United Nations. Since late August, Webb’s Upper School students have been eagerly preparing for their conference, spending lunch sessions and evenings researching, drafting, and practicing presentations.

Two students, Grayson Harrell ’27 and Iakov Bardin ’26, received "Best Delegate" recognition. In addition, a resolution co-drafted by Bardin, Gabby Dooley ’28, Daisy McCall ’28 and Gillian O’Connell ’29 (unable to attend) received “Best Resolution” recognition. Finally, Rasmus Wolter ’27 received “Outstanding Security Council Delegate” recognition.
