Special Awards

The Schornstein Award
The family of Richard Schornstein, Jr., presents a prize to that student or students, regardless of classification, whom the faculty judges to be the hardest worker in school. 
Recipient: Lucy Wilson

Outstanding Boarder 
Presented to that resident student/s who best exemplify the qualities which contribute to boarding school life. 
Recipients: Beatrix Shealy-Shuster and Gustavo Machado 

The Albert Duling Incentive Award 
This award is presented to that student, regardless of age or grade level, who has demonstrated his or her ability to overcome adversity during the school year just concluded; and this student has indicated a growing awareness of and commitment to Webb School’s ideals and standards.  
Recipient: Angelica Velez

The Marjorie Iley Manley Award 
This award goes to that student who best combines an appreciation of music and foreign language.  
Recipient: David Tran

The Paul Hunt Award 
This award is given to that student, who, in the judgment of the faculty, has exhibited particular courage, determination, and cheerfulness during the year.  
Recipient: Andriy Plakasov

John Freeman Athletic Award 
The John Freeman Athletic Award is given annually to the upper school student(s) who best model the joy of sport and competition, a high level of effort and achievement, a keen sense of integrity and sportsmanship. A youngster who exemplifies playing the game with honest zest and a ready smile. 
Recipients: Abby Faith Cheeseman and Jax Howard

Dale Hyatt Memorial Award  
The Dale Hyatt Memorial Award is presented to two upper school athletes who demonstrate honor, pride, and a genuine love of athletics. This student exhibits all of the characteristics of good sportsmanship. The athlete is selfless and generous in helping other Webb athletes to excel. This athlete shows respect for players, coaches, and officials, and maintains a good sense of humor.

University Book Awards

Randolph College Book Award 
This award is given to a high school junior who is academically strong and possesses leadership potential. 
Recipient: Irelyn Weaver


University of Penn. Book Prize 
This award recognizes an outstanding high school junior who exemplifies the best characteristics of Benjamin Franklin, the founder of the University. The purpose of the award is three-fold: to recognize outstanding students whose individual accomplishments embody the University’s highest ideals of scholarship, service, future professional development, and civic contribution.
Recipient: Alisyn Parfait


University of Virginia Book Award 
The Jefferson Book Award was established to recognize outstanding high school juniors or students in the next-to-graduating class who embrace creativity and innovation, and embody the spirit of discovery, much like the University’s founder, Thomas Jefferson. The student is a demonstrated citizen leader who works to improve their community locally or globally

Harvard Book Prize  
This award goes to the outstanding student in the junior class who combines excellence in scholarship and high character, combined with achievement in other fields.
Recipient: Abby Hagan


Yale Book Award 
Awarded to outstanding students in the next-to-graduating high school class who display excellence in scholarship and high character.
Recipient: Beatrix Shealy-Shuster


Alla Webb Cord Presentation
In October of this school year, a group of exceptional students were inducted into membership in the inaugural year of the Alla Webb Scholars program. Students selected for this recognition are not only academically strong, but they are true Webb ladies and gentlemen, who have demonstrated their commitment to the school and to causes or activities outside of just their academics. During the ceremony, senior members of this program received a cord to wear during graduation to signify this honor. The following were honored.
