A special chapel presentation, fireworks and food are some of the ways in which Webb celebrated the start of the Lunar New Year, the Year of the Rabbit, that spans Jan. 22 to Feb. 1. The celebration began during the school day Friday with the chapel presentation provided by Webb’s Diversity Council that included a musical performance by Ray Zhang ’24, accompanied by Michael Dong, drummer, and fine arts faculty member, Drew Creal, guitarist. Information about the holiday and the tradition of giving red envelopes during the celebration was also part of the program. Students were encouraged to go to the Elkins Student Center to make the red envelopes and write blessings to their friends and families. The day was capped with a fireworks show.

On Saturday, Webb’s weekend activities included a special lunch at Sichuan Hot Pot & Asian Cuisine in Nashville. At 3 p.m. on Sunday, students cooked in Haynes Hall and Meadows Hall on campus preparing special dishes. The meal was served in the Grace Follin Dining Hall and included foods such as Cumin Fried Beef, Braised Ribs, Sweet and Sour Chicken Wings, Boiled Chicken in Spice and Scrambled Eggs with Tomatoes.
