On September 21, 2026, 16 Middle School students were inducted into The Webb School’s newly formed chapter of the National Jr. Beta Club. For over 90 years, National Beta has embraced countless members worldwide.
In her welcome address to the parents, relatives and friends in attendance, Andrea Hutchinson, assistant director of admissions, noted just how proud she is to be a co-sponsor of the National Jr. Beta Club, “tasked with guiding this group of bright young students as…leaders of our School and community,” she explained.
“Simply being invited to become a member is an honor,” she told each inductee. “You are joining the ranks of over 500,000 active Beta members in approximately 14,000 clubs both nationally and internationally.”
Director of Student Life and club co-sponsor Holly Williams added, “National Beta was founded upon four primary pillars, each chosen to help students learn how to make a life for themselves and to become humble, servant leaders.”
Before the formal induction ceremony, both Hutchinson and Williams outlined the importance of the four pillars—achievement, character, leadership and service—set forth by Dr. John W. Harris, founder of National Beta, in 1934, and their alignment with The Webb School’s mission and Enduring Understandings.
“Betas, I encourage you always to be a leader, demonstrate good character, work hard in your academic endeavors, and serve others before yourself,” said Webb’s Middle School Head, Mallory Garcia, who led the induction ceremony. “I look forward to seeing how membership in this prestigious organization will impact you and how you will, in turn, impact the National Beta Club.”
Each new member received a National Beta Certificate of Membership card, Beta workbook and lapel pin. “We are proud to induct the first members into this inaugural chapter and look forward to continuing this tradition for many years to come,” said Williams.
