Five rising seniors will attend the summer leadership programs American Legion Auxiliary Volunteer Girls State and Tennessee American Legion Boys State.
Girls State takes place May 25 to May 31 at Lipscomb University, and Boys State from May 25 to May 30 at Tennessee Tech University.
Gavyn Anderson, Mary Mosier, and Katelyn Chance will be attending Girls State, and Wyatt Petroka and Aiden Ellis will be attending Boys State.
The Girls State summer program aims to “empower Tennessee's promising young women to become and remain civically engaged leaders through experiential learning and relevant, inspiring growth opportunities,” according to their website.
Boys State is “among the most respected and selective educational programs of government instruction for high school students. This year, Boys State is an interactive program where each delegate participates in local, county, and state government education and activities,” according to their website.
Congratulations to these students for their acceptance in these programs, and we’re excited to see what you learn this summer.
