The Webb School honored this year's senior class with one of the school's longest-standing traditions, Senior Blazer Day. On November 15, family, faculty, and alumni gathered to celebrate 84 members of the Class of 2025. In a ceremony at Follin Chapel, each scholar received a blazer with the Webb seal sewn to the front. Then students gathered for photos as each one rang the Webb School Bell that once stood on the original school grounds in 1870 in Culleoka, TN.
In his opening remarks, Head of School Ken Cheeseman shared: "Seniors, you being given to the blazer today signifies your faculty's pronouncement that you have reached an important and time-honored milestone in the development of your character and in the prowess of the three As - academics, arts, and athletics. It is my hope and prayer that in receiving the blazer today, you will commit to the pursuit of the wisdom necessary to lead your generation, both here at Webb and far beyond our borders. 'Lead my generation how and where?' The answer is this - toward justice and mercy and truth. I challenge and expect you seniors to intentionally commit to making your sphere of influence and the world beyond a better place because of your leadership."
The guest speaker for Senior Blazer Day was Pearson Lien Murphy, alumna from Class of 2012, who shared these remarks: "How do you decide what you want to pursue? How do you know you are on the right path? I think this comes back to where you are now. The Webb School is an awesome school where we celebrate your uniqueness. You have teachers that know your name. You've been given this platform to really try to be who you want to be.... What I really want to say is find something you care about, pursue it, be flexible with understanding that your passions might change, and be super grateful. I want to encourage you to continue to celebrate your uniqueness at Webb. Very clearly, Webb has inspired me, and hopefully it will for you."
The culmination for Webb seniors will be the Class of 2025 Baccalaureate & Graduation on May 24, 2025.
