Gunnar Boles recently claimed the mental math championship outlasting Wyatt Petroka in the annual competition. Petroka placed second. Joshua Powers and Joe Pitner were semifinalists.

Mental math is an exercise led by math teacher Jeff Mitchell that tests one’s ability to concentrate and think quickly through a chain of math facts and provide an answer.
