The Webb School’s Presentation of Senior Blazers, a longstanding tradition honoring the members of the graduating class, took place on Friday, November 14, 2025, in the Follin Chapel. Sixty-nine members of the Class of 2026 received their Senior Blazers before faculty, staff, students, alumni and families this year.
Following the singing of the Integer Vitae, Webb’s 14th and first-ever female Head of School, Dr. Polly Parker, opened the ceremony with a history lesson and reflection on the significance of this milestone for every student who crosses the stage to receive their ceremonial blazer. “A year ago, I had the privilege of observing the Class of 2025 as they prepared for this day,” she began. “Since then, I have eagerly immersed myself in understanding the profound significance of this tradition.”
“Although the tradition of blazers may have originated later, in 1959, it has become an integral part of our School's identity—a symbol of pride and unity.” Dr. Parker continued, “[The blazer] stands as a meaningful rite of passage, uniting every graduating class in a bond reaching back over decades. The Senior Blazer you will receive today is not just an article of clothing. As you wear your navy blazers, understand that you are stepping into a profound legacy. Let the legacy of Sawney Webb guide you as you continue to lead with honor, integrity and excellence.”

Garrett King ’10, Alumni Board member, served as The Webb School’s honorary guest speaker. King—vice president of private equity at Council Capital in Nashville, Tenn.—holds a JD from Vanderbilt University Law School as well as master’s and bachelor’s degrees in medicine, health, and society from Vanderbilt University, where he also studied European History.
In his address to the Class of 2026, he discussed the importance of staying connected and fulfilling one’s duties as an alumnus/a of The Webb School. Throughout his remarks, King stressed that “being fellow Webb alumni is not enough. You have to continue to show up.”
“Some of my fondest Webb memories [came] after graduation, but these memories [were] not automatic. You need to take advantage of the moment. I highly recommend not taking the Webb connection for granted,” he said, noting just how important attendance at regional alumni dinners can be. “The Webb memories don’t cease but merely continue in a different form. All you need to do is show up.”

Three Webb alumni, including Associate Director of Alumni and Development Kristen Linton Alsup ’00, Alumni Board Secretary Scout Turner ’12, and Director of W.I.L.D. Joe Griggs ’05, “showed up” to present the Senior Blazers to the Class of 2026. Dressed in their own blazers, additional alumni also attended to support their former classmates and celebrate the newest senior class.
Following the ceremony came—for many—a favorite rite of passage and Senior Blazer Day tradition, as students rang the Culleoka Bell, which once stood on the original school grounds in 1870.
