Mission & Values

For over 150 years The Webb School has been
guided by a singular mission:

“to turn out young people who are tireless workers, and who know how to work effectively; who are accurate scholars; who know the finer points of morals and practice them in their daily living; who are always courteous
[without the slightest trace of snobbery]”

Enduring Understandings

The Webb School faculty has endorsed the following enduring understandings. These beliefs are the foundation of our curriculum and all that we stand for.

Integrity

Integrity is a cornerstone of a flourishing life and community.

Self-Discipline

Self-discipline and autonomy are essential to success.

Learning

Learning is an enjoyable and ongoing process.

Responsibility

Each person has unique gifts and capacities and a responsibility to develop them.

Respect

Respect for self and others is essential to a harmonious society.

Serving Others

Each person shares the responsibility and honor of serving others.

You are welcome here.

At Webb, you are part of a global community that celebrates and values each other’s unique perspectives, values, and cultural differences.

Living and learning with classmates from different backgrounds and cultures helps our students develop a better understanding of others and themselves and strengthens their ability to communicate, collaborate, and lead.

Honor

Is at our core

Our emphasis on honor and personal integrity is central to every aspect of life at Webb. The Honor Code, dating back to Webb’s founding, features a pledge signed by all students and faculty each year. Elected representatives from the Middle and Upper School are elected each year to serve on the Honor Council.
