Webb utilizes a student prefect system to
help faculty members manage dormitories, to assume leadership
roles within the residential community, and to assist younger
students with meeting the challenges of daily life in a boarding
community. Prefects serve as a primary liaison between the
residential staff and the boarding community. They are available
to answer questions and to assist with personal or school-related
problems.
Prefects should be seen as an extension of the residential
faculty. Students are expected to cooperate with the requests
of prefects and to treat them with the same respect afforded
to dorm faculty. What kinds of things can a prefect help me
with?
There are times when you may feel more comfortable talking
with a fellow student rather than an adult. Prefects can also
serve as a liaison with dorm faculty and can speak on your
behalf about difficult issues. They are students who have
been at Webb for a number of years and have valuable information
to share with you about the Webb experience.
