| Webb’s Fine Arts program requires
each student to have one semester credit of fine arts each
year. This emphasis will help ensure that Webb students enter
adulthood with a full appreciation of excellence in the arts,
as well as academics. Classes range from art and music appreciation
to performance classes in art and theatre.
Drama
With two full productions a year, rehearsals three to five
days a week, classes in beginning and advanced levels of acting
and theater, one-act productions, and trips to see plays in
Nashville, our Drama Department is the perfect place to study
theatre. Under the guidance of a director and technical director,
students run every part of the major productions – from
acting to costume design to lighting. Plus, our department
belongs to the International Thespian Society, the national
honor society for students dedicated to theatre.
Music
Webb's choir and string ensemble perform both on and off
campus throughout the year. Rehearsals take place in our fine
arts center, which also includes a piano lab and rooms for
individal practice.
Art
Aspiring artists get the training and recognition they need
at Webb. You can study pottery and visual arts like drawing
and painting. Seniors have individual art shows, and they
receive one-on-one assistance with putting together their
portfolios and advice on applying to college art programs.
Fine Arts Center
All of this creativity takes place among the 11,000 square
feet of halls and classroom that comprise our new Fine Arts
Center. This facility features a choir room, piano lab with
12 pianos, string ensemble room, theatre room for drama classes
and rehearsals, individual practice rooms, and a 4,000 square-foot
room that houses two and three dimensional art classrooms.
Fine Arts Gallery
At the left we have our gallery, which contains photos from
the Webb School's Permanent Collection of artwork, which includes
student artwork from many years past. We will be updating
this gallery over time to include more and more photos.
