Students from the Webb School attended the Oct. 26 performance of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde to see one of their own. Harley Walker ’11, of Murfreesboro, is in the ensemble cast of the production staged by the Tennessee Repertory Theatre in Nashville.
Sam Fuller, Coleman Walker, Kai Krajack, Laura Huber and Jessie Wang attended the performance with Ralph Jones, Webb history teacher and The Webb Players technical director; Ruth Cordell, director of Webb School Productions/The Webb Players; and Angela Fuller, Sam's mother.
"Harley has everything it takes to succeed in this business. While directing her for Tennessee Rep's Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, I found Harley to be richly talented, intelligent, hard working, and absolutely deserving to be on a professional stage," said Pete Vann, director. "I look forward to working with her again and wish her great luck in her burgeoning career."
While at Webb, Walker's roles included Cecily from The Importance of Being Earnest, The Girl in The Fantasticks, Mrs. Malaprop in The Rivals, First Fairy in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and several others as a member of The Webb Players. Walker also traveled in 2011 with the Webb troupe to The Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland, the world’s largest and most prestigious performing arts festival. The group performed The Rivals.
Trish Clark, Tennessee Repertory Theatre costume designer, worked with Walker from 2007-2011 at Webb, in the summer Tennessee Shakespeare Festival shows on the campus and now at Tennessee Repertory theatre.
“For me, one of the gifts of working at Tennessee Repertory Theatre has been the opportunity to get to know talented young artists through our outreach and costume rental programs,” said Clark. “It was so much fun to watch Harley Walker learn and grow as an acting student at Webb. Her lovely performance in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is nothing less than I expected.” Clark added, “I truly expect great things from Harley and am very proud that what I hope will be a long and brilliant professional career started with us.”
