29 Webb students named AP Scholars

Twenty-nine students at The Webb School were named Advanced Placement Scholars, with two students achieving national ranking, based on their spring AP test scores. The remaining 27 students received other levels of recognition. A total of 71 Webb students took 179 AP tests and recorded an 85 percent pass rate. Twenty-two seniors, six juniors and one sophomore were among those honored.

Cameron Togrye and Jennifer Da, both Murfreesboro residents and 2012 graduates, were named National AP Scholars. Togrye scored five (the maximum score) on all nine AP exams he took. Da also took nine exams and scored 4.56. This recognition is granted to all students who receive an average score of at least four on all AP exams taken and scores of four or higher on eight or more of these exams.

Nine Webb students claimed AP Scholar with Distinction honors. This recognition is granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken and scores of three or higher on five or more of these exams. Students achieving this honor in addition to Togrye and Da were Ethan Anderson, 2012 graduate from Bowling Green, Ky.; Tyler Burns, junior from Danville, Ky.; Sarah Carter, Will Huddleston and Pierson Lien, all 2012 graduates from Murfreesboro; Tong Wu, 2012 graduate from China; and Radha Yerramilli, 2012 graduate from Duluth, Ga.

Students achieving AP Scholar with Honor were Carson Bryant, junior from Rockvale; Blake Cocanougher, 2012 graduate from Shelbyville; Shuang Liang, 2012 graduate from China; Seung Lee Kim, a junior from South Korea; Tianqing Wang and Tianyuan Wang, both 2012 graduates from China. This honor is granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken and scores of three or higher on four or more of these exams.

Students who received scores of three or higher on three or more exams and named AP Scholars were Hannah Cartwright, Kwame Chihombori-Quao, Anna Farmer, all 2012 graduates from Murfreesboro; Hannah Gallagher, 2012 graduate from Normandy; Khodadad Khairandish, 2012 graduate from Iran; Haena Lee, sophomore from South Korea; Wesley Orrin, 2012 graduate from Lenoir City; Jessica Popp, 2012 graduate from Bell Buckle; Kaleb Tilton, 2012 graduate from McMinnville; Yujie Wei, 2012 graduate from China; Benjamin Wells, junior from Smyrna; Sarah Williams, 2012 graduate from Plano, Texas; Ziqiao Yin and Hanrui Yu, both juniors from China.

In 2010-2011, there were 17 AP Scholars named at Webb, with 10 recognized with distinction and three with honor. In 2009-2010, there were 11 AP Scholars at Webb, with seven recognized with distinction and two with honor.
