Webb’s two mock trial teams will participate in District 11 competition on Feb. 18 at the Williamson County Courthouse in Franklin. Both teams will compete in four rounds. Kathleen Camp, English teacher and attorney, is the team advisor. She is assisted by Director of Admissions Julie Harris.
“This year is a criminal case to determine whether a high school junior should be tried as an adult for forcing a senior citizen to eat melon jello in a retirement facility,” said Camp. “‘Forcing’ in this case is trying to strangle him so that the student’s perfect record would not be marred by the gentleman not making a ‘happy plate.’”
Team members include - Varsity: Abby Surdacki, Franklin; Nate Sherwood, Smithville; Kelty Shroyer, Lino Lakes, Minn.; and Alexander Weitzman, Franklin; as lawyers and Clem Smith, Nashville; Ryan Xia, China; and Chelsea-Starr Jones, Matthews, N.C.; as witnesses. JV lawyers are Henry Corwin, Nashville; Dalton Gregory, Albany, Ky.; and Carol Zhou, Dunwoody, Ga. Witnesses are Alice Lin, China; David Sha, China; Ralitsa Stoimenova, Bulgaria; Chloe Tyner, Clarksdale, Miss.; and Amy Chen, Selina Liang, and Annie Zhou, all of China.
