The School
Founded in 1870, the Webb School enjoys a long history as
an independent, college-preparatory, co-educational boarding
and day school. The 150-acre campus is located in a rural
setting 50 miles southeast of Nashville. The school has 292
students in grades 6 through 12, with boarding students comprising
1/3 of the population. At present, the school enrolls students
from 13 states and 6 foreign countries.
Accreditation
The Webb School is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and holds membership in the National Association of Independent Schools, the Tennessee Association of Independent Schools, the National Honor Society, the Cum Laude Society, the College Board, the Educational Records Bureau, and the National Association of College Admissions Counseling.
The Faculty
The Webb School has 42 teaching faculty members, 56% of whom
hold advanced degrees. The student-to-faculty ratio is 7:1
and the average class size is 12.
Academic
Program and Graduation Requirements
For a College Preparatory Diploma, 19 1/2 credits (in addition
to Physical Education) are required; for an Honors Diploma,
22 1/2 credits (in addition to Physical Education) are required.

credit from this discipline is required for the Honors Diploma,
along with a cumulative average of 80 or above, no final course
grade below 70, and at least two Honors or Advanced Placement
courses in both the junior and senior years.

History: World Cultures, Western Civilization,
U.S. History, AP U.S. History, AP European History, American
Government, Psychology, World Religions, Economics.

Advanced
Placement Program
The Webb School offers Advanced Placement classes in English
Literature, U.S. History, European History, Chemistry, Physics,
Calculus AB & BC, and Statistics. In 2007, 47 Webb juniors
and seniors took a total of 91 Advanced Placement examinations.
74% of those students earned a score of 3 or higher (3 being
the minimum score for being awarded college credit). Their
results were especially impressive in Calculus, English Literature,
U.S. History, and Statistics. On those tests, 92% of the students
earned scores of 3 or higher.
Extracurricular
Activities and Programs

Country (B,G), Golf (B,G), Lacrosse (B), Soccer (B,G), Softball
(G), Tennis (B,G), Track (B,G) and Volleyball (G).

Scholarships for the Class of 2007
95% of the Class of 2007 were offered a merit-based college
scholarship. The total amount offered to the class was $1.9
million.
